YEREVAN. – In the 1990s and in early 2000, Azerbaijan purchased large
quantities of weapons and ammunition, but most of them are obsolete.

Military analyst Arkadi Grigoryan told the aforesaid to Armenian
News-NEWS.am.

In his words, Azerbaijan possesses a large number of military
equipment, but the latter’s quality is insufficient.

“This is the reason for the statements on purchasing new consignments
of weapons,” Grigoryan said.

He added that the outdated weaponry, which Azerbaijan purchases,
becomes even more outdated.

“Fifty billion dollars and five to ten years are needed for a complete
modernization of the army. [But] Azerbaijan is unable to immediately
change the weaponry of its army,” Arkadi Grigoryan stressed.

In his view, Azerbaijan has to admit that it is not ready for war.
