YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS: A group of Armenians implemented an
annual pilgrimage to the Maruta Mountain of Sassoun, located in the
historical Armenia, now in the territory of Turkey. As reported by
Armenpress, this was published by the Turkish Demokrathaber.net.

Accompanied by the Head of the Union of Armenians of Sassoun Aziz
Dagcı, the Armenians climbed the Mountain, prayed and lit a candle in
the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin. Aziz Dagcı informed that they
began climbing the Mountain at night of July 28 and at 04:00 they
reached the Maruta’s peak, from where they admired the sunrise. “As
this year not all the roads were open, we did not manage to attract
many pilgrims from Istanbul and other countries.

But during the next year we hope that the number of the pilgrims
wishing to climb the Maruta Mountain will increase”, – said the Head
of the Union of Armenians of Sassoun Aziz Dagcı.
