ACTION OF PROTEST AGAINST FARE INCREASE TURNED INTO STRIKE

A number of residents of Yerevan begin a strike against increase of
public transportation fare in front of Yerevan municipality building.

Participants of action stated that they would not pay the increased
fare and they urge drivers to join them.

Protesters brought with them posters with crossed photos of Taron
Margaryan and Galust Sahakyan.

They also threw 50 dram coins on the ground near the entrance of the
City Hall as that was the amount of increase.

Stepan Safaryan, member of “Hello Yerevan” fraction joined protesters.

Let us note that participants of the strike that started an hour ago
were not initially allowed to approach the municipality building.

However, after a jostle with law enforcement officers the demonstrators
could eventually manage to break through resistance and sit on the
stairs near the entrance of the building.
