Seyran Ohanian: It Is Impossible To Force Us To Make Concessions

SEYRAN OHANIAN: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FORCE US TO MAKE CONCESSIONS

Friday,
June 28

“We already found ourselves in a situation forced upon us, we were
involved in war and managed to maintain the security of Artsakh’s
people and our border areas. Today it is impossible to force us
to make unilateral concessions,” Armenian Defense Minister Seyran
Ohanian said today at the event dedicated to the 21st anniversary of
the formation of Armenia’s Air Force.

At the request of reporters, S. Ohanian commented on the bellicose
statements the Azerbaijani president made during the military parade
in Baku a few days ago.

“Such statements are always aimed at solving domestic political
problems and achieving success in the negotiating process, which is the
platform for resolution of our unsolved problem,” the minister said.

As for the possibility of war resumption, Seyran Ohanian noted that
for the defense minister, there is always danger of war.

“There is danger every day. Every day we prepare for war, every day we
improve our skills and capabilities. But the likelihood of war is not
great today, despite the fact that destabilization of the geopolitical
situation, the situation around Armenia and in the region as a whole
could happen any moment,” Ohanian declared.

The minister said it is necessary to develop the ability to solve
big problems with little money. “In other words, we should develop
the specifics that formed a basis for the creation of Armenia’s Armed
Forces,” Seyran Ohanian said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
