If I play for Armenian national football team in future, I will adopt
dual citizenship – Mikhail Markosov

It is yet unknown whether I will stay at Russia’s FC Ufa next season,
Armenian national football squad and Ufa striker Mikhail Markosov, 27,
stated, Gorobzor.ru reports.

`My contract with Ufa expires this year. The negotiations are in
progress; we are trying to find a compromise. I want to play at Ufa,
but nothing is known as of yet.

My mother is Russian, my father is Russian Armenian; he was born here
[in Russia]. Unfortunately, I don’t speak Armenian.

Concerning the Armenian [national football] team, an Armenian
journalist [Vera Martirosyan from NEWS.am Sport] called and
interviewed me. In the past my surname was Markasyants. Several days
after this interview, they called me from the Football Federation of
Armenia, and I agreed to join the national team without hesitation and
headed to the training session of the squad.

Such opportunity is given once in a lifetime. If I play for the
Armenian [national] team in the future, I will adopt dual
citizenship,’ Mikhail Markosov specifically said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
