YEREVAN, 13 May (BelTA) – The negotiations held by the Belarusian
delegation in Yerevan have resulted in several agreements across
various economic sectors, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei
told reporters on 13 May, BelTA has learnt.

`All members of the Belarusian delegation held talks with Armenian
counterparts. The meetings will proceed tomorrow. The two presidents
have voiced several instructions on the expansion of trade and
economic relations in various areas,’ the Belarusian Foreign Minister
said.

According to Vladimir Makei, the meetings were rather fruitful. `The
Industry Ministry, for example, have signed contracts to deliver
several hundred tractors to Armenia this year,’ he noted.

Apart from that, the parties agreed to consider setting up a joint
venture producing light tractors in Armenia. Vladimir Makei explained
that the agriculture in Armenia is dominated by farmers; therefore,
powerful tractors are rarely used there.

The parties also discussed supplies of BelAZ heavy-duty vehicles.

The Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus struck a deal to supply
foodstuffs to Armenia. `Tomorrow the delegation will hold talks with
specific partners suggested by the Armenian side,’ Vladimir Makei
said.

Belarus is interested in Armenia’s best practices in nuclear energy.
Members of the Belarusian delegation will be given an opportunity to
study these matters on the premises. Interregional cooperation was
also top on the agenda during the talks.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
