The “Yerevan Perspectives” International Music Festival opened its
14th season with the concert of the legendary Vienna Philharmonic
Orchestra. The General Sponsor of the concert is VivaCell-MTS,
company’s press service reported.

“Our Company proudly supports initiatives, which give the Armenian
public opportunities to enjoy performances of world known musicians.

This concert reinstates that VivaCell-MTS is the culture’s friend,”
said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.

The orchestra was led by 11-times “Grammy” winner celebrated American
conductor Michael Tilson Thomas. The solo part was performed by famous
virtuoso pianist Yefim Bronfman.

The orchestra’s visit is a major event in Armenia as it is the only
country after Russia among the former Soviet states to have hosted
the most acclaimed orchestra of the world. The Vienna Philharmonic
is founded in 1842 and is Europe’s and the world’s oldest orchestra.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
