ARMENIA INVITES DIASPORA REPS FROM GEORGIA’S REBEL ABKHAZIA TO OFFICIAL CEREMONY

On the invitation of Armenia, a delegation of the Union of Armenians
of Abkhazia participated for the first time in the solemn swearing-in
ceremony of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on 9 April.
Sargsyan was re-elected to the post of president of Armenia on 18
February.
The delegation comprised Khachik Minasyan, the chairman of the Union
of Armenians of Abkhazia, and Galust Trapizonyan, a member of the
union and hero of Abkhazia.
Within the framework of their visit to Yerevan, the representatives
of the Armenian diaspora in Abkhazia held meetings in the education
and diaspora ministries. Various humanitarian issues, including that
of granting graduates of Armenian schools in Abkhazia the opportunity
to study at Armenian universities, were discussed.
