Country – Tuesday, 09 April 2013, 21:15

The police warned people who have gathered on Baghramyan Avenue that
their march has not been authorized and the police may take measures
if the march continues. The police urged the citizens to refrain
from steps that may trigger clashes. After the police calls Andrias
Ghukasyan talked to the citizens, informing them that Raffi Hovannisian
is now walking towards Tsitsernakaberd along Saryan Street and those
who want to join him should go. Those who stay, he said, must follow
the following rules: they go on a sit-in, nobody allows the police do
anything, use force, resist. Andrias said if the police uses force,
and the police, according to him, has the right to use force, people
must resist without violence against the police. Andrias Ghukasyan
asked only those to stay who can resist without violence.

The police again urged the demonstrators to leave the avenue because
15 minutes later the citizens will be removed from the avenue and
their actions are not legal.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
