ARMENIAN CHURCHES OF GEORGIA UNDER RECONSTRUCTION

18:02 29/03/2013
Story from Lragir.am News:

Practical works to reconstruct St. Norashen Armenian church of
Tbilisi have already started. The commission of the ministry of
culture of Georgia carried out studies in St. Norashen, St. Minas,
Karmir Avetaran, St. Nshan and St. Gevorg churches and the Georgian
prime minister stated the government would fund the reconstruction.

As coordinator of Assembly of Armenians of Tbilisi, Arnold Stepanyan
told Lragir.am in this stage the commission is engaged in cleaning the
St. Nshan church. The issue is that this church was used as library
and there are numerous books there and it is necessary to find a
place for these books.

Arnold Stepanyan said that after the statement of the premier, the
ministry of culture started working in this direction. According to
him, it is still early to say how much money will be required for
the reconstruction of the churches.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
