A historic Armenian St Virgin Mary church in the Turkish Gurun region
of Sivas province will be reconstructed, head of the region Mehmet
Aktas said, according to Star paper.

The church that dates back to 19th century has served as a jail for a
long time, then turned into cinema and a store, but remained standing.

Aktas said the reconstruction works will be implemented by Culture and
Tourism Ministry in collaboration with the governor’s office of Sivas.

He said the church will be reconstructed in short period of time and
will serve as a museum of culture.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
