I’d love to visit Turkey should border open – Aznavour

World-renowned singer and song-writer Charles Aznavour has said that
he would very much love to visit Turkey in case the country opens its
closed border with Armenia.

`It is my dream to visit Turkey. I have never said anything bad about
the Turks, but when I speak of Genocide, my sisters and relatives tell
me not to go there as I would kill myself by doing that,’ he told the
French language publication La Liberté.

The musician noted he has many times been invited to the country by
Turkish friends.

`In case the Turks agree to open the borders, I will go there even if
the Genocide issue isn’t settled. The opening of the border would
relieve many people’s souls. What a wonderful trip it would be!’

Aznavur also recalled the time when he was in Istanbul for a concert
as a young singer. `They should have noticed then that I am an
Armenian,’ he said.
