ECONOMIC ACTIVITY INDEX GROWS IN ARMENIA

Armenia’s economic activity index for the first two months of 2013
increased 8 percent compared to the same period last year, according
to the National Statistical Service.

The index rose 7.8 percent in the service sector and 2.2 percent in
agriculture. Trading turnover grew by 6.7 percent.

The production volume for industrial products grew 16 percent. The
construction sector, however, continued to decline. The volume of
construction represented 92 percent of the economic activity index.

Production of electricity increased by a small 0.7 percent. Volume
of foreign trade turnover in the months of January and February grew
14 percent. Exports were up 30.4 percent while a 8.9 percent increase
of imports was recorded.
