Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian, who plays first board for the
three-time World Chess Olympiad champion Armenian national team
and who is third in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings, was
photographed wearing the jersey of Armenian national football team
and Ukraine’s FC Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan,
and he posted the photo on his Twitter account.
Earlier, Aronian had told NEWS.am Sport that he is very happy with
Mkhitaryan’s accomplishments and he would like to see him stronger
leagues.
To note, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will play for FC Shakhtar Donetsk in its
Champions League round of 8 second-leg away match against Germany’s
Borussia Dortmund. The “clash” will kick off Tuesday at 11:45pm
Armenia time. The first leg in Donetsk had ended in a 2-2 tie.
