Gyumri-Asparez daily and report that one of the local
election commissions is intervening with the activity of their
representative.

The Chairman of Precinct 35/39 stationed in Gyumri’s School N14
prohibits observers and media representatives from observing the
voting process more closely. Thus, they cannot see whether voters are
correctly signing the names in the registry. The Chairman orders them
to seat in the designated places without moving.

At Precinct 34/06, the representative of the newspaper witnessed
another violation when a voter was being registered for another
person. When he reported to the commission chair on the violation,
asking the latter to record the incident, the commission chair said,
“You should not direct me in my actions!”

Emil Lazarian

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
