YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 5, ARMENPRESS: The Gazette published Paul
Khatchadourian’s letter addressed to Turkish nation – “Turkey should
accept responsibility for Armenian Genocide”. As reports Armenpress,
referring to The Gazette, Khatchadourian first noted the fact that
an exhibition was put on in Berlin in behalf of the 80th anniversary
of Hitler’s rise to power. Chancellor Angela Merkel’s warns in this
occasion about the dangers and consequences of a society’s apathy. She
encouraged people to have “regard and respect for one another” and
to take responsibility for their actions.

“In contrast to this courageous stance, I am reminded of the Armenian
Genocide and the Turkish government’s continuous policy of denial for
the atrocities committed in 1915 where 1.5 million Armenians were
systematically rounded up, deported and killed by the government”,
said Khatchadourian.

He also hoped that Turkey and Turkish society would also have the
courage to accept responsibility for their actions and do as Germans
have, by putting on similar memorials and exhibitions marking the
upcoming 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
