SERZH SARGSYAN HOPES NEW HACHN “SHOGHAKN” FACTORY TO REOPEN IN NEAR FUTURE

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS: Former agreements and contracts
in diamond sphere are gradually being updated. In the course of
pre election campaign meeting with Yeghvard residents Armenia’s
Presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan to a Province resident question
weather New Hachn “Shoghakn” factory would operate in the future and
what steps are being taken in the diamond sphere generally, he was
quoted as saying ” I hope ” Shoghakn” factory will start to work in
the near future”.

Presidential candidate recalled diamond production has greatly suffered
in Armenia not only as a result of global crisis but before 2007,
when the sphere faced problems. Serzh Sargsyan considered possible
diamond sphere may again revive in Armenia in the near future.

A few years before diamond production recorded considerable volumes.

Diamond processing capacity reached its peak in 2004- 2005, 200
small and large processing factories, 5000 workers were engaged in
the sphere then , 1 million carat diamond was cut in a year.
