THE RATES OF RESETTLEMENT TO BE MAINTAINED

Thursday, 17 January 2013 14:56

The reduce of the state budget funds allocated to resettlement this
year does not mean reduce of efforts as compared to the previous year.

During the press conference convened at the end of December NKR
Prime Minister Ara Haroutyunyan informed that from this year on the
government staff at the head of Vice-premier Artur Aghabekyan would
take up the resettlement issues.

Only the expenses of the resettled families’ first necessity, the
transportation of their luggage are noted in the state budget, the
other expenses are fixed in the budgets of different departments,
the prime minister noted and assured that the rates of resettlement
would be maintained but unfortunately, nothing more could be realized
because of the lack of the necessary resources.

Today also there are housing problems in the resettled regions not
only for the new but also for the old resettlers. “Today Qashatagh
has 10 thousand inhabitants and the housing conditions of most of
them are rather bad. When we try to provide the new inhabitants with
flats the old ones begin complaining. This is another problem which
we must all think about,” A. Haroutyunyan underlined.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
