GEORGIA RELUCTANT TO ANNOUNCE CHAKHALYAN POLITICAL PRISONER – BROTHER
January 15, 2013 – 19:49 AMT
PanARMENIAN.Net – The leader of United Javakhk Democratic Alliance
will probably not be included in a new list of political prisoners
to be released under Georgia-signed amnesty law, Vahagn Chakhalyan’s
brother said.
As Armen Chakhalyan told PanARMENIAN.Net the activist is unwilling
to be released under amnesty law, as he doesn’t accept the charges
against him. “Georgian authorities, in turn, are reluctant to announce
Chakhalayan a political prisoner, doing their best to prevent it from
happening,” Armen Chakhalyan said.
As he noted, the new law stipulates for release of 3000 inmates,
beside political prisoners, which might mean Chakhalyan will be set
free as well.
In conclusion he reminded that Chakhalyan’s case has been submitted
to European Court of Huna Rights, with the study of the case to
be continued.
