YEREVAN, JANUARY 15, ARMENPRESS. Aggressive policy regarding the
regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue remains to be an inseparable
part of the Azerbaijani regime. As reports “Armenpress” Director of
the Oriental Studies Institute Ruben Safrastyan stated this during
the press conference held on January 15. Ruben Safrastyan stated:
“Azerbaijani aggressive rhetoric continued during 2012, which was
also expressed by means of weaponry. Intensifying situation in regions
nearing border is a part of present strategy adopted by the Azerbaijani
authorities. In addition he noted that all the activities of Azerbaijan
are attempts to attack Armenia.” In Ruben Safrastyan’s opinion this
policy of Azerbaijan compels us “to be active, particularly in the
process of peaceful regulation in the respect of putting forward new
suggestions, as well as to be active in the relation with our allies.”

Among other things the Director of the Oriental Studies Institute
underscored that change of power in Georgia will have its reflection
on the region as well. Ruben Safrastyan stated: “In my opinion we
shall see a new Georgia in future, which will conduct policy based
upon actual foundation.”

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
