Syrian Armenians and poor citizens to receive New Year gifts in Armenia

YEREVAN. – Head of the Social Welfare Department at the Yerevan city
hall Ruzanna Zakaryan on presenting briefly the 2012 report on the
works implemented first of all claimed that the Department is
targeted at supporting the poor, as well as struggling for effective
management of risky groups and against the poverty.
The state budget allocated over AMD 7.5 billion for financial aid and
social benefits. In addition, 21,000 poor families in Yerevan
administrative districts will receive New Year food aid. At the same
time, 2,500 children of Syrian-Armenians and other groups of citizens
will receive Christmas gifts along with lots of holiday events,
organized by the Yerevan City Hall.
