ARMENIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION BACKS THE IDEA OF SETTING UP A COMMON CIS CHAMPIONSHIP

Yerevan/Mediamax/. The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) stated
today that it backs the idea of setting up a common CIS Championship.
“There are currently very strong teams in all the national
championships of CIS states. They are well known not only inside
their countries but also in the whole world. Nevertheless, we believe
that the competition between the best clubs of the post Soviet space
within the common CIS Football Championship will allow to increase
the football level in CIS countries both in terms of local clubs and
national teams. This model will undoubtedly allow to more effectively
participate in the fight for the most prestigious international
trophies,” the statement says.
The Football Federation of Armenia recalls that it backed the idea
also in the past and urged upon all the football federations of CIS
states to “engage in an active dialogue and cooperation to create and
conduct the CIS Football Championship in the nearest possible time.”
