YEREVAN. – The average life expectancy in Armenia was 74 years in
2011, the National Statistical Service informs. At the same time the
women’s average life expectancy was 77 and that of the men was 71.

To compare, the average life expectancy in Armenia in 2006 was
73.3 years.

The residents of Armenia have begun to live longer after the global
economic crisis.

Also, Armenia is in first place among the CIS countries in terms of
average life expectancy. Aside from Azerbaijan, where the average
life expectancy is likewise 74 years, the respective indicators of
the remaining CIS counties are considerably lower.
