NUMBER OF LIVEBORN BABIES IN ARMENIA ACCOUNTED TO 30,906 IN 9 MONTHS 2012

YEREVAN, October 31. /ARKA/. The number of liveborn babies in Armenia
slashed by 3% to 30, 906 within January-September 2012 from the same
period a year earlier, a head of population census and demography
of Armenia’s National Statistical Service Karine Kuyumdjyan told
journalist on Wednesday.
According to her, the number of stillborn babies fell by 4% to 623
in January-September compared to the analogical period a year earlier.
Kuyumdjyan also said mortality rate dropped by 0.8% (20,815 people)
within the nine months of 2012. Birthrate accounted to 10,091 people.
Furthermore, death rates among babies of up to 1 year old slipped
within the reported period (346 against 373 in the analogical period
last year).
Armenia’s National Statistical Service registered 13, 828 marriages,
which is 6.6% lower from 2011.
The number of divorces rose by 3.1% to 2441.
