PRESIDENTS OF ARMENIA AND NKR ATTEND NKR DEFENSE ARMY EXERCISES

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan visited a near border military unit
of the Armenian Armed Forces and attended ceremony of putting into
service apartments for the officer staff, Monday, the presidential
press-service reports. Later on the same day the president left for
the Nagorno Karabakh Republic on a working visit.

Serzh Sargsyan and his NKR counterpart Bako Sahakyan accompanied by
Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan and high-ranking officers
visited the defense positions and got first half view of the combat
efficiency of the armed forces and military building.

The two leaders attended the NKR Defense Army exercises and monitored
the defense area. The two presidents also attended the opening ceremony
of St. Gevorg Church in one of the military units.

Afterwards, discussion with participation of the top officer staff
was held.

On the same day the Serzh Sargsyan and Bako Sahakyan visited coalmines
in the village of Maghavouz. Coal is already exported to Armenia
for electric power generation at Yerevan TPP CJSC. This important
investment program will boost economic development and upgrade the
energy security of Armenia. The two presidents got first hand view
of the construction of a coal-processing combine in the area of the
Magavuz coalmines.
