Second President Robert Kocharyan is said to have met with ex-Foreign
Minister Vartan Oskanian to discuss plans for the upcoming
presidential election, the paper says, citing its sources.
Kocharyan reportedly said at the meeting that he is not going to run
for election next year, but the paper says he later opened his mind to
the ex-minister, promising a political consolidation in case of
nominating his candidacy. The plan, according to the paper, rules out
any involvement by the incumbent president.
The paper says it contacted Kocharyan’s spokesperson, Victor
Soghomonyan, for further information, but he reportedly could not be
reached on the phone.
