ITALIAN SENATE DELEGATION IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN. – Armenian Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan received on
Friday members of the Italy-Armenia friendship group of the Chamber
of Deputies and the Senate of Italy.

Abrahamyan welcomed the guests and stated that it is the first visit on
the friendship group level, which is expected to open a new page both
for Armenia-Italy bilateral and inter-parliamentary ties, Parliament
press service informs. As for the bilateral relations, Abrahamyan
said that they have good perspectives for developing cooperation in
political, economic, cultural and other fields. Italian co-chair of
the Italy-Armenia Parliamentary Group, MP Sandra Zampa paid importance
to the meetings to develop inter-state and inter-parliamentary ties.

“Europe should give back what the Armenians have contributed for years
and should support the development of Armenia,” Zampa stated adding
Italian parliament circulates a bill due to which the April 24 will be
marked as the day of honoring memory of the Armenian genocide victims.

The sides touched upon regional issues, Armenia-Turkey relations and
Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh] peace process.
