Head of the Armenian Public Chamber Vazgen Manukyan says sale of the
Foreign Ministry building was a political mistake. The building will
turn into a five-star hotel.

Commenting on the given decision at the request of Mass Media,
Manukyan said that the issue must be studied from the political point
of view. It is important for the Foreign Ministry to be located in
a territory having the highest status in Yerevan – the Republican
Square, he said.

“The Foreign Ministry is of more importance for us than for any other
country. Anyway, it is a serious political mistake for a country
having a big Diaspora and an unsettled conflict to sale the building
for commercial purposes,” he said.

Earlier on October 4 the Government of Armenia adopted a decision to
sell the above building to Tango CJSC for $41.2 million. The company
belongs to Argentinean businessman Eduardo Eurnekian and registered
in the territory of Zvartnots International Airport.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
