The state commission for the protection of economic competition made
scandalous revelations in the medical drug market. It was found out
that the abuses of medical institutions caused an annual damage of
1.5 billion AMD to the state.

The head of the commission Artak Shaboyan said that the directors of
medical centers decide themselves where to buy the medical dugs. 100
out of 134 medical centers were found out to have purchased the
necessary medical drugs without competitions and at six times more
than market prices.

The commission demanded explanations from the directors of hospitals
who informed they were unaware of the law. The commission found out
that directors of hospitals directed the patients to the same pharmacy
to receive free of charge medical drugs, for which, the state had to
pay a higher price.

Artak Shaboyan informed the information on the abuse of state means
will be immediately sent to the prosecutor’s office.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
