European investments in other countries are down due to the crisis,
said the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy
Stefan Fule in answer to the question why the European investments
decreased in Armenia this year.
He said that Europe is in crisis, the euro is facing confidence crisis
and trust in investments in other countries is destroyed.
At the same time, Fule said that it would be naïve to think that after
signing of the free trade agreement with the EU favorable investment
conditions will be created in Armenia.
He said there are a number of issues that need a short-term and
mid-term solution to provide a favorable climate for business. It
is necessary to create such Armenia that would be attractive for
investments comfortable for its citizens, Fule said.
The European official noted that the government of Armenia has the
necessary will to address these issues and they are ready to support.
It would be more effective if the civil society were also involved
in this question. We have already discussed this issue with the prime
minister, said Fule.
