Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian drew with the reigning world
champion Vishvanatan Anand from India playing with black figures in
Round 2 of a prestigious tournament in Sao Paulo, Brazil, that has
brought together six of the world’s leading players.
The five-round tournament is the first part of the Grand Slam Masters
Final that will continue in Bilbao, Spain, in October.
After two rounds of play Aronian has three points. Italy’s Fabiano
Caruana tops the tournament standings. Aronian is playing Francisco
Vallejo Pons of Spain tonight.
The other grandmasters participating in the tournament are Norway’s
Magnus Carlsen and Russia’s Sergey Karjakin.
