ARMENIAN DEMOCRATS LEADER SAYS HE WILL NOT SEEK PRESIDENCY

Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA) leader Aram Sargsyan has denied
plans to run in the country’s presidential election.

“Although a format for the Democratic Party of Armenia’s participation
in the republic’s presidential election in February 2013 will be
discussed at an upcoming congress, I tell you that I am not going to
nominate myself,” he told journalists.

In comparison with other candidates, Incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan
can actually show what he has done for the country, he said.

The government should not have spoken about problems fours years ago,
but should have guaranteed the implementation of the president’s
resolutions, the DPA leader said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
