Armenia To Sell National Air Carrier

ARMENIA TO SELL NATIONAL AIR CARRIER

Northern Voices Online
Sept 26 2012

Yerevan, Sep 26 (IANS) Armenia Wednesday confirmed reports that its
national air carrier Armavia is for sale, according to Xinhua.

Armavia press secretary Nana Avetisova said one of the main reasons
for selling the company was its unprofitability.

“It is not known who the buyer will be – Italians or someone else,
because there are lots of interested people,” Avetisova was quoted
as saying.

Armavia flights at Zvartnots international airport near the capital
city of Yerevan ceased Sep 20 after the airport refused to provide
services over unpaid service fees.

Armavia has amassed $5.3 million in debt in the past six months.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
