YEREVAN. – The people of Nagorno-Karabakh cannot feel safe in
Azerbaijan, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said during
his joint news conference with UK Foreign Office Minister of State
David Lidington, who serves as Minister for Europe.

In Nalbandian’s words, the right for self-determination not solely
stems from the UN Charter and it is a key precept of international law,
but, also, it has a great importance in terms of security.

“The people of Karabakh cannot feel safe in a country where, during
sniper shooting training, the soldiers fire at a target on whose
forehead is written ‘Armenian,'” Nalbandian noted.

He also expressed confidence that the people of Nagorno-Karabakh
cannot feel safe in Azerbaijan, where a murderer like Ramil Safarov
is exemplary for that country’s law enforcement.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
