YEREVAN. – The whereabouts of Samvel Babayan, the former Commander of
Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Defense Army, are still unknown, Zhoghovurd
daily writes.
“His family members assure that they not only do know where Babayan
is, but also assure that they not maintain contact with him during
this period.
‘What [kind of] question is this? Samvel is not in Armenia. I have no
contact with him whatsoever and I don’t know when he will return,’
Babayan’s wife Irina Babayan said during a telephone conversation
with us.
To note, Babayan had put up his and several of his friends’ homes as
bank collateral, more than a year ago, and disappeared.
He is believed to be in Moscow,” Zhoghovurd writes.
