EXPERT: OPERATION AGAINST IRAN MAY HAVE UNPREDICTABLE RESULTS

Several countries, including Israel, have plans to make preventive blow
upon Iran. Perhaps, the USA and other countries also have such plans.

But military settlement of the issue will not have positive results,
and its consequences will be more serious, Sergey Konoplyev, director
of programmes for USA-Russia and USA-Ukraine relations of the Kennedy
School of the Harvard University, told ArmInfo correspondent within the
frames of the project of the Investigation Centre “Region” (Armenia) –
“Security of South Caucasus States and NATO”.

“I still see no statements and indicators that NATO like an
organization has at least preliminary plans of the operation in Iran.

Iran is not Libya and the operation here may have unpredictable
results. Moreover, the USA, which is the biggest military and financial
contributor of NATO, has been involved in other wars”, – he said.

He also added that US Congress has already reduced Pentagon’s expenses
much and in this context America will not have enough funds to carry
out several operations simultaneously. He said it is hard to say how
NATO will act in case of provocations or attacking facilities of Iran
in a unilateral way from the side of Israel. However, NATO will hardly
independently initiate operation against Iran, he said.
