An evening of jazz music entitled “Jazz as a Phenomenon of Tolerance”
took place on May 2 at the Hayratoun Culture Center attached to the
Armenian Apostolic Church Diocese of Georgia.
The musical evening was the brainchild of social activist Artem
Kirakozov (Grigorents) who was inspired by the references regarding
traditional Georgian tolerance made by Primate Bishop Vazgen
Mirzakhanyan in his sermons.
Pianists Yesayi Abovyan and Pavel Oganezov wooed the crowd with their
renditions of jazz standards.
Historian Yenok Tadevosyan gave a talk about the history of jazz in
post-Soviet countries.
