Five possible parliamentary leaders determined in Armenia on the eve
of elections

According to the final phase of a poll conducted by “Gallup Europe”,
five political parties with a high probability of being elected to the
Armenian parliament have been established, News-Armenia reports. A
member of the Board of Directors of “Gallup Europe”, Rasa
Alishauskene, said that among the possible victors are the Republican
Party, Prosperous Armenia, the Rule of Law, ARF and the Armenian
National Congress opposition bloc.

The RPA and the PAP received 39% and 26% of potential votes
respectively and became the favorites of the poll.

The Gallup Organization in cooperation with the Armenian Sociological
Association has conducted two rounds of polls under the commission of
the Information Channel “Armnews.” The aim of the poll was to explore
social and political attitudes to the parliamentary elections to take
place in 2012 in Armenian society.

The first phase of polling took place from April 4-10. The second and
final phase was conducted from April 16-22. 1015 adult Armenian
citizens eligible to vote participated in the polls.

According to the survey, among the supporters of the Republican party
in Yerevan and villages are mostly middle-aged people. There are more
young people among the PAP people. As for the opposition parties,
according to the survey they are mostly supported by elderly citizens.

Parliamentary elections are scheduled in Armenia for May 6. Eight
parties and one party alliance will participate in the elections.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
