On April 19 Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated
in the extended NATO sitting on Afghanistan, featuring more than 50
Foreign Ministers of the member states and the countries contributing
to the International Security Assistance Forces in Afghanistan.

Speaking at the sitting, Minister Nalbandian reiterated Armenia’s
willingness to continue contributing to the efforts targeted at
establishment of peace, security and stability in Afghanistan.

“Armenia came to Afghanistan to participate in the combined
international efforts to help that country establish peace with itself,
its neighbors and the international community, not to allow destructive
actions of terrorist forces in Afghanistan and elsewhere,” he added.

Minister Nalbandian underlined that Armenia will continue contributing
to the establishment, maintenance and reinforcement of peace, stability
and security in Afghanistan both before the expected withdrawal of
security assistance forces in 2014 and afterwards.

On the sidelines of the sitting Edward Nalbandian had meetings with
his counterparts with a number of countries.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
