The Flagler College Community Lecture Series will present “Reflecting
on a Century of Genocide” today by associate professor of political
science Arthur Vanden Houten. He will offer reflections and
perspectives on the genocides that have marred the 20thcentury,
including the Holocaust and the genocides of Armenia and Rwanda.

“The goal is to come to some understanding of what lessons have emerged
for international relations and the study of genocide,” Vanden Houten
said. “We’ll examine the moral questions, as well, and attempt to
understand how these events could have happened over the last century.”

Vanden Houten is widely published in academic journals, and he has
presented extensively at conferences including the Silberman Seminar
for Faculty Teaching about the Holocaust at the United States Holocaust
Memorial Museum, in Washington, D.C.
