The “Armenian community of Georgia” petitioned to the Tbilisi City
Hall and the City Council with a request to allow the placing of a
plaque in memory the Armenian Genocide victims.

“We, the ethnic Armenian citizens of Georgia, form the second largest
national minority in Georgia, and the first in Tbilisi. Despite
numerous petitions and requests, we still do not have in Tbilisi any
memorial-symbol devoted to the 1915-1923 Armenian Genocide victims.

We, the undersigned, ask that you consider our righteous wish and
allow the [Armenian] community to place a plaque devoted to victims
of the 1915-1923 Armenian Genocide,” the aforesaid petition reads.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
