DISTRUST OF ARMENIA’S JUDICIAL SYSTEM CLOSE TO BEING CRITICAL – MINISTER

YEREVAN.- Public distrust of Armenia’s judicial system is close to
being critical, Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan told journalists
on Wednesday.
The surveys show 70-80% of Armenians do not rely on judicial system.
The Minister said the government must improve the system, all the
mechanisms – transparency, responsibility of the judicial officers
should be at high level.
Tovmasyan also said an expert group was created at the Ministry to
study precedents of the European Court of Human Rights and eliminate,
if necessary, non-conformity of the Armenian legislation with the
European one.
