YEREVAN, JANUARY 12, ARMENPRESS: On January 12, Armenian President
Serzh Sargsyan visited Henrik Malian Theatre of Armenfilm Studio, which
has just been repaired. Here the President also met with intellectuals,
Armenpress reports.

Narine Malyan, daughter of artistic director of the theater Henrik
Malian, thinks the theater is a warm hearth that hosts actors/actresses
and its spectator. She said the repair of the theater lasted 3-4
months. It was repaired with the support of the Union of Armenian
Cinematographers and individual philanthropists.

According to composer Martin Vardazaryan, cultural figures always feel
the state attention. As an example, Mr. Vardazaryan pointed out the
issue on updating of the pop orchestra instruments, which has been
completely solved.

Actor Azat Gasparyan voiced hope that the ongoing support of the state
will not stop during 2012 as well and the cultural figures will refine
their work.

After the repair the theater has been equipped according to up-to-date
standards, new cloakrooms, make-up and rehearsal rooms have been added.

The President walked around in the repaired building, then some famous
films by Henrik Malyan and parts from performances were presented to
him. Subsequently the intellectuals had an opportunity to communicate
with the head of the republic in a frank atmosphere.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
