Residents of Vahramaberd village in Armenia’s northern province of
Shirak have said that the fresco by prominent Armenian artist Minas
will not be moved to anywhere.

According to Shirak Kentron non-governmental organization, a group
of representatives of various NGOs visited the site to find out in
what conditions the mural is now.

“Armenia,” one of the most famous paintings by Minas, is pictured on
a wall of the local culture centre that was partially destroyed by
the 1988 devastating earthquake.

The residents of Vahramaberd, noticing that there is a group of
strangers around the building came up and started asking the aim of
their visit and by learning it, they said that “Minas’ mural will
remain in Vahramaberd for eternity”.

Below is a video in which Shirak Kentron speaks about the future of
the mural to Aghvan Martirosyan, the head of Vahramaberd village.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
