Russian First Lady welcomes Rising Stars in Kremlin

MOSCOW November 25

Russian First Lady Svetlana Medvedeva welcomed on Thursday night
participants in the Rising Stars in Kremlin festival which she
initiated two years ago and called to educate respect to various
cultures of the world.

“Close and cordial communication is key to peace and accord. We all
have to care and develop spiritual relations, friendship between
peoples, and educate respective attitude of the growing generation to
various cultures,” she said while opening the concluding gala concert
of the festival in the St. Alexander Hall of the Great Kremlin Palace.

Medvedeva welcomed Queen Paola of Belgium, Armenian First Lady Rita
Sargsyan, and First Ladies of Cyprus Elsie Christofia and of Slovenia
Barbara Miklic Turk.

“I hope you will have good impressions of your stay in Moscow,” she said.

The first Rising Stars in Kremlin festival was held in 2009 and
involved young talents from eleven countries. This year participants
arrived from 20 countries.

“Although the festival is very young, it has already developed into a
major cultural event in the life of our country and won international
acclaim and is expanding boundaries. This time participants from
France and Canada, Belgium and Bulgaria, Cyprus and Slovenia, Armenia
and Azerbaijan gathered in the heart of the Russian capital,”
Medvedeva said.

The young talents performed with the famous Moscow Virtuosi camera
orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Spivakov.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
