November 5 marks the birthday of the merited Armenian dancer and
choreographer, Vanush Khanamiryan.
The dance legend would turn 85 today if alive.
Vanush Khanamiryan was born on November 5, 1927 in Yerevan. A solo
performer and art director at the State Dance Ensemble, and the
president of the Union of Dancing Actors, he brought his considerable
contribution to the Armenian choreographic art.
Khanamiryan staged dozens of new dancing performances at the State
Dance Ensemble, with “Holiday Suite”, “Caravan”, “Eternity”, “Dance
of Vagharshapat” (Komtias) and “Enzeli” (Aram Khachatryan) being his
most remarkable works.
In 2004, he opened a veteran dancers’ ensemble called “Vanush”. Since
2010, he was also the direct of “Poplar” dancing ensemble.
