OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier said on November 1 that
Turkey is an important player in the region and may offer a political
contribution to the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process, day.az reports.

Zannier underlined the importance of a dialogue in solving any
conflict. Turkey may take part in the process.

The secretary general noted that there are discussions to shift the
issue elsewhere. However, he doubts there will be any benefits from
such actions. There is nothing wrong with the OSCE working on the
problem, Zannier continues.

It is the conflicting sides that need to make steps towards each other
and express the political will to conclude the conflict, he underlines.

Zannier believes that the mechanism for solving the conflict needs to
be improved. Officials are trying to provide the necessary atmosphere
for the talks, but the situation is becoming complicated. The secretary
general says the OSCE must prevent an escalation of the conflict.
