The director of John Hopkins Institute of Central Asia and the
Caucasus, Frederick Star, criticized the activities of the OSCE
Minsk group which is involved in resolving the Karabakh conflict as
it has not yielded any significant result for the past 20 years. Star
thinks that the US should get involved in processes more actively as
so far neither the Minsk group nor the efforts of Russian President
Dimitri Medvedev resulted in a significant outcome. Star thinks that
the US should be involved more actively in South Caucasus problems
and it should protect the independence and sovereignty of the South
Caucasus countries.
