ENERGY PROJECTS NOT TO HEIGHTEN TENSION – RUSSIAN PRESIDENT

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev shares his Armenian counterpart
Serzh Sargsyan’s opinion that EU-launched energy projects, particularly
Nord Stream, are not to heighten regional tension.

“I entirely agree with Mr. Serzh Sargsyan that economic projects
are not to create dividing lines, but must build up cooperation in
the region,” the Russian leader said stated at a news conference
held jointly with his Armenian counterpart, as he responded to a
relevant question.

President Medvedev stressed that all Russia is doing is aimed
at building up the cooperation spirit, “easing concerns and
improving competiveness both in Russia and in other participating
states.” The Russian leader stressed his country’s readiness to
support Armenian-Russian projects.
