Armenia refused to attend a meeting of the South Caucasus presidents
at the Eastern Partnership summit in Warsaw, a top Azerbaijani official
has said.
“The presidents of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia were to meet at
the EU’s initiative. We agreed to this. But unfortunately, Armenia
rejected this, declaring that it was because of the alleged destructive
position of Azerbaijan. Finding itself up against the wall, Armenia
frustrated the summit,” the head of the Foreign Relations Department at
the Azerbaijan Presidential Administration, Novruz Mammadov, told ANS.
He accused Armenia of once again taking a destructive position at
the summit.
Novruz Mammadov described the Eastern Partnership summit as a success
for Baku, and said that the summit declaration contained provisions
of importance to Azerbaijan.
